About Sangeetha Sivakumar
Sangeetha Sivakumar is among the popular musicians in the field of Carnatic music. Her music is known for its crispness, clarity of thought and presentation. She has the great capacity of being extremely creative within the bounds of tradition and classicism.

She started learning music at the age of 9, from Sri K.P. Vasu of Calicut and later became the disciple of famous vocalist, Smt Charumathi Ramachandran, Chennai. She has been regularly performing in various Sabhas all over India, and in the prestigious Margazhi music festival conducted in Chennai every year. She has won many awards from various institutions like The Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha and Bharat Kalachar. She has toured United States, Canada, Australia and Singapore for concert performances. An ‘A’ grade artiste of All India Radio, she has performed in the All India Sangeet Sammelan held at New Delhi in 2001 and Trivandrum in 2014.

For the last two decades and more, Sangeetha Sivakumar has been involved in various initiatives that have been aimed at creating both an awareness and participation with Carnatic music, among the larger society.

Her work has been diverse, ranging from education programmes at various public schools in South India to music workshops in France and more recently, being actively involved in ‘The Urur Olcott Kuppam Vizha’ which is a festival about bringing down barriers, equalising spaces and de-classing the arts. The Vizha exposes artists to new audiences, audiences to different art forms, and sows the seeds for artists to emerge from under-represented sections of society.
