Shivani Sowmyan is a Sophomore in the Wissahickon School District. She started learning music from the age of four from her mother and grandmother and later on has been learning from Sri Prasanna Venkatesh for the last 8 years. She has regularly been participating and winning in competitions conducted by CMANA and was recently placed first in Pallavi Singing this year. Besides Music, her interests circle around FBLA, Debates and Robotics where her experience ranges from a participant to leading some of the groups. Swetha Narasimhanstarted learning violin at the age of 6 from Dr. Narayan Raman in Indianapolis. Later she was taught by several violinists, including Shri. Purna Chander Rao, Trichy Shri. Sathyamurthy, and Smt. Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi, with some additional vocal training from Dr. Bhavani Prakash. She is currently learning from Smt. Gowri Ramakrishnan in New Jersey. Swetha has participated in several music festivals and has won first prizes in CMANA Great Composer's Day and the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana. She enjoys accompanying many local artists in and around New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Swetha graduated in May from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in mathematics, and she is currently doing a master's in education at the University of Pennsylvania. Sabarinath Ramachandran is 8 grader at crossroads middle school, South Brunswick, New Jersey. Sabarinath is learning mridangam for past 6 yrs. He started learning mridangam from Sri sankara school of percussion. Currently Sabarinath is under the guidance of guru Sri T S Nandakumar. With blessings of guru, Sabarinath had opportunity to accompany in major concerts at young age like papanasam sivan festival, jugalbandi, drive east concert at ny, Philadelphia Ganesh festival, CMANA's junior member inauguration, Bridavani 's youth series concert. Vinay Mallikaarjun has been learning Kanjira and Mridangam from Srinath Bala for five years. Vinay has accompanied many leading Carnatic musicians on Kanjira, such as Sikkil Gurucharan, T.S. Satyavathi, Kiranavali Vidyashankar, and Kalavathi Avadhoot. In addition, Vinay has learned Tabla for 13 years under various Gurus, most recently Pandit Samir Chatterjee of the Farukhabad Gharana. He has accompanied several leading Carnatic musicians on the Tabla, and has also participated in and led various collaborative percussion ensembles.Vinay is currently pursuing his Master of Education degree at the University of Pennsylvania

Dance Performance By Roopa Nayak

Roopa Nayak is a student of Smt Chhaya P Khanvate, who is a dedicated and well established senior student of Sri Raja Rajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir in Mumbai. After completing her Arangetram under the guidance of her guru, she continued her Bharata Natyam education with Guru Vishwanath Pillai of Sri Rajarajeshwari Bharata Natya Kala Mandir and was also fortunate to learn from her grand guru Kalaimamani Guru T.K Mahalingam Pillai. Under the banner of Nateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir she has performed with her guru for the Centenary Celebrations of Bharath Vidwan Kuppiah Pillai, The Indian Cancer Society, Aeronautical Society of India, and for Silver Jubilee Celebration of Nateshwar Nritya Kala Mandir. She is the recipient of the R.K Agarwal trophy organized by Sri Siddhivinayak Social and Cultural Organization, and has performed in the winner's recital of Swar Sadhana Samiti. Roopa continuously strives to preserve and present the purity of her style and currently encourages young budding artists through her institute, Nritya Surabhi.
