SRUTI is proud to announce “Bala Bhavam” recital, featuring a vocal concert by

Priyanka Dinakar and Mallika Dinakar (Disciples of Smt. Kiranavali Vidyasankar)

Priyanka Dinakar has been learning music from Smt. Kiranavali Vidyasankar for 8 years. Priyanka is a 2014 recipient of the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts apprenticeship award with Master Artist Kiranavali Vidyasankar. Priyanka has been a very active contributor to the Sruti Youth Group since its inception and continues to support by creating the artist interview movies. She is a Freshman at Georgetown University.
Mallika Dinakar has been learning music from Smt. Kiranavali Vidyasankar for 5 years. She has participated and won prizes at the CMANA Great Composers day competition. Mallika is a Sophomore at Methacton High School. Mallika is actively engaged with Sruti community through the Sruti Youth Group and has also shared her talents by making song lists for Sruti recordings.

Priyanka and Mallika have performed solo as well as duet performances at various community events. Both are key members of several advanced-level group projects that Kiranavali has presented including the 72- Mela Ragamalika, Navagraha kritis, Swarajathis, Pancharatna kritis and the Tribute to T. Brinda.

Accompanied by Siddharth Ashokkumar on Violin and Sanjeev Raja on Mridangam

Siddharth Ashokkumar has been learning Carnatic music for the past 13 years. He initially learnt the violin from Smt. Ranjani Swamy and voocal from Smt. Lalitha Venkat of New Jersey. He now takes advanced lessons from Sri Vittal Ramamurthy and Sri Srinivasamurthy of Chennai and has also benefited from the guidance of Smt. Kalyani Ramani. A regular performer in the tri-state area, Siddharth has also had the unique opportunity to accompany traveling artists from India as well as play for dance performances. He is also currently taking advanced lessons from an advanced music group facilitated by Suresh Ramachandran.
Sanjeev Raja has been learning mridangam for the past 8 years from vidwan Melakkaveri Sri Balaji. He has won many first prizes in mridangam solo, konnakol, and accompaniment competitions in the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana and CMANA music festivals, and is playing regularly for concerts in US and India. Sanjeev is a sophomore at Mendon High School. He also learns and performs Western Classical and Jazz music on the saxophone.
